Information on special purpose accounts for assistance to flood victims and removal of flood consequences

NBS asks banks not to charge any fees on the flood relief accounts

The NBS calls all banks to show solidarity in the terrible predicament that has befallen our country by charging no fees on donations and transfers of funds to the dinar and foreign currency accounts opened for the purposes of providing assistance to flood victims and removal of flood consequences, as well as by charging no fees for the services of opening and maintaining those accounts.

The NBS will publish a list of banks which responded to this call for solidarity.

At today’s emergency meeting of the Executive Board, the NBS adopted a decision exempting banks from the payment of fees normally charged by the NBS pursuant to the Decision on Uniform Fees in respect of orders for the payment and/or transfer of donations in dinars and foreign currency to the above special purpose accounts.

All donors are invited to channel their contributions for flood victims and for the removal of flood consequences to special purpose dinar and foreign currency accounts in order to be exempt from the payment of fees in accordance with this call for solidarity.

With a view to preventing any abuse, the NBS will make public the numbers of special purpose accounts for assistance to flood victims and removal of flood consequences based on the information received from the Ministry of Finance.

Banks to apply official middle exchange rate for purchases of foreign exchange from flood relief FX accounts

In its meeting today, the NBS Executive Board adopted the Decision Supplementing the Decision on Operating Terms and Procedures in the Foreign Exchange Market, stipulating that banks must apply the official middle exchange rate of the dinar when buying foreign exchange from the special purpose accounts opened for the purposes of providing assistance to flood victims and removal of flood consequences in the Republic of Serbia. PayPal Account for Flood Victims

Since 18 May 2014, humanitarian donations to flood victims in Serbia can be paid in from 193 countries and the region via PayPal account for flood relief.

This account is held by the Serbian Mission to the EU in Brussels and the donations will be transferred directly to the account of the Government of Serbia for providing assistance to flood victims.
