About NBS buildings
The edifice of the National Bank at Kralja Petra Street was designed by Kontantin Jovanović in the Neorenaissance academic style. As a monument of outstanding architectural and artistic value and one of the largest and most beautiful 19th century buildings in Belgrade, it was placed under state protection. The newly built Privileged National Bank of the Kingdom of Serbia opened its doors for the first time in 1890. An extension to the building was constructed in the same style between 1922 and 1925 to provide space for the increased scope of operations. What was once a tellers’ hall, now serves as a hall for holding exhibitions and conducting educational activities.
The National Bank’s building at Nemanjina Street is a modern marble and glass structure. It was furnished with equipment supplied by the world’s leading manufacturers and put into use in 2006.
