The National Bank of Serbia has notified all banks, Treasury Administration of the Ministry of Finance and other participants in the NBS RTGS and clearing system that the International SWIFT Association will start applying the new currency code for the Serbian dinar – RSD (alpha code RSD and numeric code 941) – as of 9 December this year. The new international code for the Serbian dinar, RSD, will accordingly be applied in the NBS RTGS and clearing system as of Monday, 11 December 2006, i.e. as of the first business day after the above change.
Payment system participants are required to make all changes necessary in order for the previous currency code (CSD) to be replaced by the new one (RSD) in all messages in interbank payment transactions in the NBS RTGS and clearing system, in a timely manner, i.e. after the close of business day of the NBS RTGS and clearing system on Friday, 8 December. The NBS also warns that all national interbank payment system messages that do not contain the new currency code for the Serbian dinar after 9 December 2006 will be rejected in the National Bank’s RTGS and clearing system and be deemed invalid.
Further, all participants in the NBS RTGS and clearing system are required to receive all messages from this system after the close of business day on Friday, 8 December 2006.
