At end-Q3, there were 11.9 million payment cards issued in Serbia, which is 6.1% or 700 thousand more than in the same period a year earlier. Domestically issued cards accounted for 158.8 million payments, up by 20.8% or 27.4 million from Q3 2023. At the same time, tourists visiting our country made 16.8 million purchases in Serbia, 20.1% or 2.8 million payments more than a year ago.
The Serbian acceptance network expanded further in Q3. At the end of the quarter, payment service users had 3,210 ATMs at their disposal, or 5.2% more than in the same period the year before. The POS terminal acceptance network keeps growing from one quarter to another. At end-September, buyers were able to pay at close to 154 thousand POS terminals, which is 15.9% more than in Q3 2023.
There were 4,535 virtual points of sale at end-October, or 18.1% more than a year ago. This means that 695 new internet points of sale were opened, enabling online purchases by cashless payment instruments, i.e. instant and/or payment card payments.
