Increased use of digital banking by citizens and businesses in Q1 2025 continued in Q2 as well. As a result, the first half of the year (H1) saw a y-o-y growth in cashless payments made through digital banking, with a concurrent increase in the number of registered users of mobile and electronic banking services.
By mid-2025 there were 4.8 million registered users of mobile banking services in Serbia, which is 12.1% more compared to the same period in 2024. At the same time, the number of electronic banking users also increased, reaching 4.7 million by mid-2025, or 10.3% more than a year ago.
In terms of the number of payments, in H1 2025, a total of 129.3 million payments were carried out using digital banking instruments, representing a 7.2% increase compared to the first half of 2024, when 120.5 million payments were made. Of the total number of transactions, 50.2% were made through electronic banking, while 49.8% were made through mobile banking.
If we look at Q2 alone, a total of 67.4 million payments were made in Serbia via mobile and electronic banking, which represents an 8.5% increase from Q2 of the previous year. This increase was driven by the stepped-up use of mobile banking, where the number of payments rose by as much as 27.0% compared to Q2 2024, from 26.5 million to 33.6 million. On the other hand, the use of electronic banking declined by 5.3%, the number of executed transactions falling from 35.7 million to 33.8 million.
