In Q3 2025, the NBS IPS system processed 27.3 mn of fast, instant payments, which is a 25.7% increase compared to Q3 2024. Apart from the rising number of payments, their value also went up by 31.8%, to RSD 357.1 bn in Q3 2025. The growth attested to the five-year trend, with the number of payments rising each quarter by 25.8% y-o-y on average, and their value bу 39.9%.
The 2018-launched NBS IPS system stands as a pillar of today’s modern payment operations in Serbia, operating 24/7/365, with money transfers effected in seconds, accessible to households and corporates – at brick-and-mortar and online stores, through use of mobile and electronic banking. Thanks to stable operations and reliable, well-established infrastructure, the system has earned customer trust and massive customer base over the years, with a continuous rise in the number of transactions.
In Q3 2025, the network of participants broadened further: the payment institution Dunav – Union d.o.o. Beograd joined the NBS IPS system as an indirect participant. This enabled faster execution of payment services by customers, additionally strengthening the market and raising the accessibility of instant payments.
number of executed payments 296,389 – over 60 thousand more than in the same quarter of 2024. The daily record of the number of payments executed in the NBS IPS system in Q3 was broken on 15 September, when 497,287 instant payments were executed.[1]
The services enabled in the NPS IPS payment system, apart from the basic option of sending instant credit transfers to any payee having a current account in the bank, include the following payments:
settling monthly bills, i.e. liabilities toward utility and other service providers by scanning the unique NBS IPS QR code printed on the bill/invoice;
at brick-and-mortar and online points of sale through IPS Scan and IPS Show;
through IPS Scan method at an online point of sale, with payments executed in a few clicks via deep link technology;
using the Transfer service – via a designated payee code, i.e. mobile phone number;
the Generator and the Validator are two services which the NBS has enabled on its website to generate (technical preparation) the NBS IPS QR code and to validate (technical verification) the already prepared IPS QR code).
Payments through the NBS IPS system are available at numerous points of sale across Serbia, including trade chains Mercator S, i.e. Idea, Roda and Mercator stores, NIS Petrol, Gazprom and OMV petrol stations, bookstores Laguna and Vulkan, technical appliance stores Tehnomanija and Tehnomedia, as well as Lilly pharmacy and drugstore chain. Instant payments are also supported on the e-commerce platform Ananas.rs and on many other brick-and-mortar and online points of sale, enabling fast and simple payments without the use of cards or cash.
On the eGovernment portal – ePay (euprava.gov.rs), instant payment of fees and charges for services provided by the Ministry of the Interior and the Tax Administration is enabled by scanning the NBS IPS QR code displayed on the uniform payment slip generated on this portal.
Please note the “Transfer” service, which offers users the advantage of easily transferring funds from one account to another using the recipient’s phone number registered with their bank for the service. The list of banks that provide this service is available on the Instant Payments Serbia website, under the Services Overview section. Registration for the service is very simple and is quickly completed within the mobile banking application itself.
