At today’s meeting, the NBS Executive Board adopted a decision to revoke the operating licence of ALTA banka a.d. Beograd. By a court ruling, the Deposit Insurance Agency will be appointed as the bankruptcy administrator.
The Executive Board noted that the delicensing was preceded by supervisory activities aimed at enabling the bank to increase its liquidity levels. It was established that the bank’s financial condition deteriorated significantly in the prior period and that there is a likelihood of further deterioration of its financial condition or liquidity, thereby threatening the interests of the bank’s depositors.
Bearing in mind that the requirements for revoking the bank’s operating licence have been met in accordance with the Law on Banks, the NBS adopted the aforementioned decision in order to protect the interests of depositors and preserve the stability of the financial system.
In accordance with the Law on Deposit Insurance, the Deposit Insurance Agency will enable the payout of insured amounts and make funds available to depositors within seven business days.
