The National Bank of Serbia has granted operating license to the Belgrade-based joint-stock non-life insurance company “AS osiguranje“. The company’s core activity is providing all types of non-life insurance.
President of the company’s Board of Directors is Mr Stanislav Rijavec, while the majority founder is legal entity “Adriatic Slovenica“ d.d. from Kopar, Slovenia.
This legal entity is one of the largest Slovenian insurance companies founded in late 2005 through merger of two companies – “Adriatic“ d.d. and “Slovenica“ d.d. With gross premium of EUR 233 million, it ranks second in the Slovenian insurance market, and is the only 100 percent privately-owned company in the country.
“Adriatic Slovenica“ carries on all types of insurance. It is licensed to operate in the European Union and has set up branches in several neighbouring countries. Its strategic objective is to focus primarily on the development of voluntary health insurance and to become recognizable in the Serbian market.
The entry of this business group in the Serbian insurance market is expected to give impetus to its further development, especially in the field of voluntary health insurance. This is yet another investment by Slovenian companies in Serbia, and third in the line of insurance business.
