At today’s meeting, the Executive Board of the National Bank of Serbia agreed to the transaction proposed by the Ministry of Finance, whereby Banka Poštanska štedionica a.d. Beograd assumes the assets and liabilities of the bridge bank Nova Agrobanka a.d. Beograd.
The Executive Board of the National Bank of Serbia expressed a positive opinion on the assumption proposal of the Ministry of Finance because Nova Agrobanka was not able to align its capital and performance ratios with the Law on Banks within the legally established six-month timeframe.The Executive Board judges that such action is in the interest of preserving the stability of the financial system and elimination of systemic risks.
Following assumption, the Executive Board revoked Nova Agrobanka's operating licence and placed it under administrative management. This will be followed by the opening of bankruptcy proceedings.
The National Bank of Serbia is taking all the necessary measures under its remit to assure smooth continuation of payment transactions and payment of deposits on Monday, 29 October, which is the first day after the assumption.
