NBS Hosts Regional Seminar for Insurance Supervisors

Starting today, the NBS will be hosting a four-day Regional Seminar for Insurance Supervisors in Central and Eastern Europe, and Central Asia and Transcaucasia on Implementing Risk-based Solvency Requirements and Supervisory Techniques, under the auspices of the Financial Stability Institute (FSI), International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) and the NBS. The seminar was opened by Ms Mira Erić-Jović, the NBS Vice-Governor and Ms Gunilla Borer, Senior Financial Sector Specialist at the FSI, Bank for International Settlements (BIS).

The seminar gathered 29 participants from 17 countries of Central Europe (Poland, Slovenia, Hungary, Slovakia), Eastern Europe (Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Moldova), Southeastern Europe (Bulgaria, Croatia, the Republic of Srpska, Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Serbia) and Central Asia and Transcaucasia (Armenia). The lecturers are top international experts in the insurance supervision field – Gunilla Borer, FSI, Switzerland; Mala Nag, IAIS, Switzerland; Philipp Keller, Deloitte, Switzerland; Irina Sikharulidze, Financial Market Supervisory Authority, Switzerland; Marc Gruter, KPMG, Switzerland and Ian Marshall, Financial Services Authority, UK.

The main topics to be covered are: 

  • Stress and scenario testing;
  • Risk management;
  • Internal models;
  • Early warning systems;
  • Group supervision;
  • Solvency II implementation.

This is the second time that the NBS has been hosting a regional seminar and, like the last time, will again be devoting much attention to the promotion of Serbia’s cultural heritage. Participants will have a chance to visit the landmarks of Belgrade, exhibition “Life and Times of Georg Weifert – 160th Anniversary of Birth” in the NBS Museum and attend the performance of the folklore ensemble “Rad” from Belgrade.
