Serbia supports the work of the IMF’s Regional Technical Assistance Center for Southeast Europe

During this year’s IMF-WBG Spring Meetings, the Serbian delegation expressed the Republic of Serbia’s intention to support, through a financial contribution, the work of the Southeast Europe Technical Assistance Center (SEETAC) established by the IMF.

SEETAC will work with Western Balkan countries and Moldova, with the aim of strengthening economic institutions and policymaking in the process of EU accession. The Center is expected to begin operations in January 2027 as the 18th IMF regional capacity development center worldwide.

The IMF Managing Director, Ms Kristalina Georgieva, said that SEETAC will help meet the capacity development needs of IMF member countries in Southeast Europe, boosting macroeconomic stability and resilience, growth prospects, and progress towards EU accession.

SEETAC will deliver tailored technical assistance in key areas for macroeconomic management: fiscal and monetary policy, macroeconomic frameworks and forecasting, statistics and legal reforms.
